Could be a G. P. Matthew Paul. The medallion looks similar to the attached photo. Maybe it's been reversed/customised ?
The machines are fairly common as found on untold numbers of zither banjos.
It was not uncommon for name badges to be flipped or replaced with initials, I expect most local jewelers or watchmakers would be capable of that sort of thing with little effort. That said, considering that nearly every household in London might have had a zither banjo at one time or another, you will be narrowing it down to the entire population of England between 1888 and 1940 or so. Should be easy to sort out who the initials belong to (just kidding).
