I’d like to add one more key connection in regard to specific history and cultural heritage:
Playing and composing for banjo in Victorian England often did not occur in easy circumstance and amenable contexts. The awareness of social history and individual narratives are indivisible from the creative forms if we are to gain meaningful, contextualised knowledge and understanding. That is fundamentally what heritage means - our inheritance; the sum of the creative energy of our people - shaped by their individual narratives - as a gift for us to discover.
