First full practice this Wednesday.
This'll be fun.I was in a trio with our leader in the late 70s and in a band with the bass and fiddle/keyboard players 5-6 years ago.

A new combination of old pals.

Maine catches 78% of lobsters caught as of 2023 with 4,100 license holders according to NOAA.
Maine and Massachusetts together account for 93% of lobsters landed annually.

Coming back from a gig in Eastport, driving along the coast of Maine, I wanted to treat the band to a nice 2lb lobster dinner! Surprise - none available. Owner said 'Ayhuh, all 'em big ones go down south to ya fancy folks".

I dunno, Al .... maybe some of 'em found their way to Lundar, MB.  https://www.instagram.com/p/DLi-qBuOlIQ/   though I suspect theirs likely came from Nova Scotia.  Until I saw that ^^ link I was unaware that Lundar had a lobsterfest.   In any event I was m-a-n-y miles away .... and I didn't hear any BG music.  sad

[But there was a small pipe-and-drums contingent in the Binscarth Canada Day parade.  yes ]

You can get whatever size you want when you buy directly off the boat.

Short, medium and large lobsters all taste the same.I've never heard of all 2 pounders being sent south, but I only went lobstering for 50 years.

Our Rockland Lobster Festival has had a good amount of known performers over the years.

Willie head-lined in 2000.
