started playing banjo in 1954. My Dad would take me to Belvedere SC. to the Frank Prichards house, where I was given my first lessons on the rolls by Doc Prichard and none other than the then unknown Bobby Thompson. "my opinion the greatest banjoplayer ever" I'm excluding Mr Earl in this statement!!. My first effort to pass along what I knew about playing the banjo was to MR. Al Osteen, in 1962 when I moved to Anderson SC. He got really obsessed with the banjo and took it to a much a higher level than I did or could. I have my first banjo a 1954 gibson arch top mastertone as well as a 1949 tb100 converted to a rb75 with a huber tone ring. Neck built by Wyatt Fawley. At present I am teaching Scruggs style here in Anderson s c. giving one on one private lessons. I teach at Jacks pickin parlor hwy 29north and at Brezeals country store( now a pickin parlor) on the Liberty hwy in the Lebanon community outside anderson s c. phone # 634-0036
