More About Me
Began playing self taught BG banjo in 1973. In 1975 I was stationed in NM with the USAF and switched to OT banjo under the teaching of Dr Wayne Shrubsall PHd, one of the premier player/teachers in the USA. He was a columnist for Banjo newsletter at the time.
In 1977 I was stationed in the UK and began to play banjo and guitar in USAF talent shows and in UK folk clubs, concerts and festivals. I also taught banjo and guitar to USAF and UK individuals.
In 1980 I was stationed in San Antonio TX and began to play with various line ups in the Texas Folk Life Festivals and was involved wiith the United Old time Texas Fiddlers Association. I taught banjo and guitar in a local music store.
In 1987 I returned to VA and began teaching begining BG and various levels of OT banjo in a local music store.I play with the OT band Corn Bread and Butter Milk that has placed in the top 10 OT bands at the Galax Fiddlers Convention.
I have played in bands that have opened for Fairport Convention in the UK, Tim O'brian and the Songs from the Mountain Tour and Dave Grier the IBMA guitar player of the year as well has been involved in many local festivals here in Richmond.
