5 String Banjo player for 50 years.
Styles are Scruggs, Melodic, and Clawhammer.
Fortunate to have won numerous banjo competitions throughout Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia, including State of Alabama Bluegrass Banjo Champion in 1976, and Tennessee Valley Bluegrass Banjo Champion in 1988, 1989, and 1991, 2004 and 2008; and Tennessee Valley Old Time Banjo Champion in 1993 and 2004. Tenn Valley fingerpicking guitar winner in 2008. Frequently act as a judge for competitions. Performed with various artists including Vassar Clements, Claire Lynch and the Front Porch String Band and the Jake Landers Band. Presently play guitar with Tuscaloosa based Celtic band, Henris Notions, and as a duo with Jil Chambless (www.jilchambless.com).Muscle Shoals Studio Musician – First call banjo player for Muscle Shoals Alabama Recording Studios. Performed on various projects with Shenandoah, Mac McAnally, Jerry Reed, Chris Ladoux and others. Designated as Master Folk Artist for Alabama State Council on the Arts.
