More About Me
I have been playing banjo since the early 1960's, both bluegrass and old-time clawhammer style. In the late 1960's I was a member of the Lake Country String Band, an early Chicago bluegrass band; in the 1970's I played with Yonder City, a York County Pennsylvania bluegrass band led by Dick Staber, and later the West Orrtanna String Band, an old-time band that recorded several LP's on the Revonah label. More recently I've played with Pasture Prime, a central Pennsylvania bluegrass band, and most recently, with the Hope Valley Volunteers in Rhode Island, where I now resid. I have also been on the staff of Banjo Camp North for several years, teaching various styles of bluegrass and jazz banjo, and am currently a member of its board of directors. .
I teach and play straight Scruggs style, Keith style melodic banjo, and chord-melody jazz banjo. You can find a few videos at Banjo Camp and other venues by searching for my name on Youtube. I'm available for personal lessons at all levels in the Providence, Rhode Island and Wellfleet, Cape Cod area, since I relocated in 2020.
