More About Me
Mara Eagle is an American musician and artist who lives, works and plays in Montreal. She is a dedicated player and listener of a wide range of early roots music of the American south including old time string-band, country blues, jug band, Cajun and minstrel era music.
Mara is an experienced clawhammer banjo player and teacher, and offers private and group lessons in English and in French. This style requires a 5-string banjo.
Please check out the Banjo Montreal blog to listen to samples of her students and of her playing to get an idea the material:

TEACHING STYLE
Mara teaches primarily through modeling and repetition with the intent to preserve the oral tradition of country folk music. Students’ ears improve as they learn to assimilate melody through intensive listening and mirroring. In class, students learn songs and how to improvise within the set structure of a melody.
The combined simplicity and complexity of clawhammer banjo makes it ideal for all levels of musicians.
30$/hour lesson. Packages are available. Please contact for more information.
