More About Me
I have been teaching banjo since 2006 and love to help people to get the best out of this inspiring instrument.
My approach leans more towards coaching than teaching. I like to assess what stage you are at, work out what your personal goals are and then I tailor the material to try and take you there.
With me it's more about "how to play" rather than "what to play". I already have quite a lot of stock material that I've built up over the years but I'm more happy to write tablature for a specific tunes or exercises where needed.
I have my own office and lessons are held in private on a one to one basis. I'm fully self-employed and I'm very flexible on the days and times.
For my sins I have tutored the beginner banjo course at the wonderful Sore Fingers Summer School as well as tutoring the beginner guitar course there.
I also play flatpick guitar and mandolin and can teach you the rudiments of music, e.g. how scales really work, their relationship to chords you play and the circle of fifths. I don't do music notation.
Lastly, I think learning to play an instrument should be fun. If it ain't fun then you need to ask yourself, why you are doing it?
Please get in touch if you you'd like to know more...
All the best
Guy
