More About Me
I teach guitar and banjo and am very passionate about getting any musician to the next level. I still practice and study banjo nearly every day. Although bluegrass banjo is a large part of my banjo experience (2nd place in the New England Banjo Picking Championships) I have played on several albums and gig with local rock, folk, indie, and country bands. I come from a very structured academic background and hope to release a banjo method book for intermediate players. I have great references for both teaching and playing in several countries.
I also occasionally teach an Intro to Banjo class or Music Theory for Banjo Players in a group setting. If you are interested please get in touch with me.
I still perform with several bands in the area on both guitar and banjo. I have a website you can check out for more information- http://www.bobhamilton.net/
I am a professional banjo player and music teacher available for lessons in West LA/Santa Monica. I have lots of resources to help you learn, practice, and get to the next level. Banjo lessons can be centered around your own music taste and style, whether it be Mumford and Sons or Earl Scruggs. Also able to teach composition on the banjo, techniques, fiddle tunes, jazz chords, blues, classical, and theory.
If you are a beginner I will help you with basic technique, easy songs, basic chords, timing drills, and some improvising in the first lesson.
If you are a bluegrass player we can learn and study Earl Scruggs tunes, fiddle tunes in melodic style, closed position licks, and improvising.
If you are a songwriter we can work on chord shapes and music theory, rolls, patterns, songwriting, and adapting the banjo to your existing songs.
If you just like the sound of the banjo we can play Beatles songs, basic bluegrass banjo techniques, work on reading tablature, and go from there.
Lesson rate is $70/hr. FMI- http://www.bobhamilton.net/music_lessons/banjo_lessons_in_los_angeles

Bob: I have been playing 4-string banjo for about a year. My banjo is tuned D-G-B-E. I like old-time ("Baby Face," "Aint She Sweet") jazz. Do you give lessons on Saturday? Bob - bobklueger
