More About Me

I was self-taught, starting in 1961. I began as a pop folkie. My basic learning came from listening to recordings and watching bluegrass and frailing experts in person. I started playing in bluegrass-only bands in 1972; also in 1972, I began writing for Muleskinner News and then Banjo Newsletter. I began giving lessons in 1975. In 1982 I joined the Adobe Brothers and branched out to playing more frailing and three-finger styles. I taught at Alan Munde's Camp Bluegrass from 2000 to 2007. I still play in the Adobe Brothers, and I also play plectrum banjo in the Dixieland group Jazz a la Carte.

Hi Wayne--is there any way to get a hold of your thesis on the banjo as icon? - murphette77
