Thanks. Let me tell you how cool and important I think it is that you got the opportunity to play banjo with an orchestra. I once saw Bela Fleck interviewed on the Charlie Rose show, a fairly "artsy" TV show. Rose asked Bela if Bela had ever been invited to play with an orchestra. Bela looked slightly uncomfortable and replied that, no, he hadn't, but his band had invited orchestra players to perform with them.
I believe that the former must occur with some frequency in order for the banjo to claim a place among "serious" instruments. It's one thing for banjo players to say, "the banjo is a serious instrument." It would be another thing altogether if Yo Yo Ma made that statement.
You are in a unique position. You have the opportunity to make strides for the instrument the rest of us can only dream about.
I started listening to your prelude for banjo and violin yesterday, but I was interrupted. I look forward to hearing the entire piece and other Violanjo works as well.
