On my new Hatfield Buck Creek. Been playing for a little over 8 months now and really enjoying it. I made the mistakes on purpose so that I can learn to work through them. :-) Any input good or bad!

But you are doing what everybody does at this point in learning: you slow down on the hard parts. This is hard to fix and many people never do. The longer you wait to fix it, the more the habit becomes locked in. If you make your body a metronome, then it will override the tendency to change tempo. You have to overcome that tendency with brute force. Learn it now, while it's still easy to do. You may ask: what should I be doing? There are a number of things that will help, but the most effective is move your body rhythmically, like you were dancing in place. It sounds stupid but it works. You don't have to do it in public. Once you have it working, you can back off with the exaggerated motion and still get the metronome effect. Keep on working. If you were my student I would be happy with your progress. Thanks for all the info. I'm also going to start working on just rolls with a metronome. I've never done that and I know I need to. I'm also checking into lessons but the closest I can find is 2 hrs away.
