Wrote this when I was really frustrated by all the stuff going on at once. Job dissatisfaction, financial woes, and my son being psychologically abused by his stepfather.

If I had a hat like yours, you can bet it would be off to you, sir! That is a great song. I may have to start a campaign to get you to record a CD of your original tunes.

Here are the lyrics, and I'll send an explanation of the poetry to Janna, as well as to anyone who requests claification.
1. Like a bold and jolly pirate,
With my crossbone flag unfurled
I left my little village, set to pillage all the world.
Seeking only treasure, and what pleasure there might be,
I never thought to check a chart,
Of the perils of the sea.
And I can’t keep my shiP together,
In this storm I’m going through.
I can’t fix it up with strings or tapes,
Or even Crazy Glue.
I can’t hold the wheel to an even keel,
Or turn her hard about.
I know that water’s running in,
And time is running out.
2. Sailing out on summer oceans, I saw only sunny skies.
I forgot whatever’s born to life,
Just lives until it dies.
Thinking storm clouds wouldn’t affect me, I did not prepare for rain,
Until things went from bad to worse, from worse to hurricane.
(Chorus)
3. I sailed on through forty winters, and I fought on through the cold.
And I’ll tell you what I got from all those winters:
I got OLD!
Now mermaids swim by to the other guys,
With a wiggle and a wink,
And they don’t care if this old pirate
Drops into the drink.
(CHORUS)
4. Now I try to warn the youngsters
Of the perils of the sea.
And show them all the scars I got, to map my misery.
But they’re still on shore, so they ignore
The facts I clearly state.
And I do fear that I shall hear them shout,
When it’s too late---
(Chorus)

For a cry of despair, this is more than a little comical.

I figured I may as well laugh at my misfortune. At the time, I'm sure that some other people probably were.
But, yes, despair.
