Hi Bill, I wrote the song while I was in Northern Canada. It was February and 40 degrees below zero. I was sitting in a living room on a bright sunny afternoon overlooking a lake that had been partially cleared for planes with skies on instead of tires to land. The name of the place I was staying was a bed and breakfast called Pilot's Rest
