Frosty Morn and (Cold) Frosty Morning: one tune, not two?
Frosty Morning ? my version, from Henry Reed?s recording (hobbyist, feedback welcome) As I said in my earlier post, here is my take on Frosty Morning. I?m an enthusiastic amateur still learning clawhammer, so please take this as a work in progress. I worked it out by ear, starting from the 1966 recording Alan Jabbour made of Henry Reed in Glen Lyn, Virginia (Library of Congress). The A part is closest to my own ideas. The B part is simpler and is influenced by versions I?ve learned from, such as Hilarie Burhans?. The clip is 40 seconds: A and B once each, in gDGCD on a nylgut-strung banjo. I?d love to hear any thoughts on timing, drone, or how close or far this is from Reed?s phrasing.
