Using my modified Recording King RKO-3S (with fiberskyn head and nylon strings) tuned relative to G-standard, probably about 3 half-steps down.

Were it not for the late great Mr. Dooley, the Kingston Trio would not have been a Big Deal on the radio.
Were it not for the Kingston Trio, hundreds of thousands of us would not have become interested in the banjo.
That head and those strings sure help give it a mellow, old as the hills sound.
Keep up the good work.
