I always liked this song, especially the versions by Roscoe Holcomb, Mike Seeger, Bob Dylan and Odetta. I wanted to try something different though and adapted the song to this slow horse-riding rhythm. You hear me on my Amistar Duolian single-cone unplated brass resophonic guitar in open-G tuning. The banjo joins in after the second verse (also played by myself). It's my Iida openback, a banjo with a multiply rim, a deep pot and a flathead Mastertone-style tonering. It's presently setup with a No-Knot tailpiece, a not so tight Renaissance head and a Sampson walnut bridge, which gives this banjo a very pleasant oldtime sound. I use finger-picks and open G-tuning.
