Can't quite remember where I first heard this tune, but I've played it for years...not even sure it's Barlow Knife, but that's what someone told me it was when I played it years ago...so its Barlow Knife from here on out. Have an older version on my page, but decided to funk this one up a bit...In fCFCD again...

This seems to be indeed an older version of Barlow Knife. If not, this tune is closely related. The fCFCD tuning (sometimes called "Sandy River Belle tuning") is a very old Appalachian tuning. Sandy River Belle(s) in fCFCD sounds definately better and more authentic than in Open G. That holds for Barlow Knife, too. RG, do you have a tab of your version?

No I don't have a tab, sorry. It's real easy to play though if you follow the notes in my post and just go slow. The "Sandy River Belle" tuning name is relatively recent, Oscar Wright played a tune named "Sandy River" which has no relation to 'Sandy River Belle" in this tuning as well...this has been one of my favorite tunings since I started played 45+ years ago...
