Genre: Popular / Playing Style: 4-String (Tenor/Plectrum)
....... the five string lovers have Earl Scruggs, the tenor players have Harry Reser and the few remaining plectrum players amongst us have Perry Bechtel. (Sorry if I didn’t mention your personal hero here. There are so great many names that we can all add to this list.) In any event, any time I’ve needed some inspiration over the years, I just listen to Perry and it all comes back. I wanted to do a little variation on Perry’s great arrangement of Donkey Serenade. So, I opened it with a little touch from the Grand Canyon Suite: the part that conjures up the weary, little burro walking down the trail. And since I love the duo-style on plectrum, I included it twice in both keys. That’s why it’s just a variation on the original that only Perry could have created.
