This is a traditional tune from Scotland going back as far as 1549 in a published ballad format. Dave Hum played this tune and his videos are still on-line to view -- what an amazing picker he was! I'm playing on a Mac Traynham Whyte Laydie openback, but also enjoyed it played lower on the cello banjo. You can compare the two, as I've uploaded them both.

Very nice, Janet. I like them both.

Thanks, Pat. I was struggling to learn Tam Lin til I came upon your tab. Then I thought of raising up the first string a half-step. Finally I could play it. When I transposed to two other keys it's your arrangement I'm playing. Thanks much for sharing it!

One o' my fav's JB... a dark tune with depth and intrigue. At this tempo quite contemplative... be cool to "shift gears" and then return to the slower tempo (just a thought). Cheers!
