You've sure come along nicely. I can hear melody. You're shooting high to sound like Earl! Did you work out some of the arrangements yourself?

Thanks, Janet. Not trying to displace Earl, but I am determined to become the best I can be in the years I have remaining. :-)
Yes, I did learn some of these completely by ear. I currently have 2 teachers. One teaches me to hear/play the melody and then embellish with my own choice of Scruggs rolls/licks. The other teacher wants me to learn to play the classics note-for-note exactly like Earl's version in his book. I find value in both approaches for now.
I am finding value in both approaches.
