For the old-time Tune of the Week, 8/14/15, this one was actually written by the great collector of the Dear Old Illinois compilation (soon to be released again), Garry Harrison. The fine part expresses a bit of the over-exertion needed if your chisel needs sharpening.

Good description Janet. While listening to Dull Chisel I was wondering how Dull even entered the vocabulary. Sounds sharp to me.

Sometimes songs are named like the Native Americans named their babies. Named after the first thing they saw after birth. Like Flying Eagle, Sitting Bull, my name might have been Bull S....r. Anyways good tune.

I'd be terrible at those game shows where you have to fill in the blank letters, Denton. In your case perhaps that's a good thing...and you don't need to tell me what goes in the blank (I can only think of sugar)! I also believe that Indians would have attributed personal spiritual powers to such spontaneous, nature-based names. You've given me a new perspective on looking at titles. I'll still be linking titles to what the music meaningfully represents. Must be the Native American that's in me (but only spiritually speaking).
