An Arabic melody I learned many years ago from the singing of an Irish American friend. I haven't been able to find the tune in this version. It's possible he made it up, being known to do such things. In any event it's a melody that sticks with me - one of those 'phone numbers' that ring through to an exotic mood. From what I can glean off the Internet, "Jamil" means beautiful. "Abaya" is a loose overgarment, the purpose of which is to conceal the shape of a woman’s body.
