For the Tune of the Week, 4/4/14. Jay Ungar has an art for writing modern beautiful old-time tunes. I like the title of this tune because I'm from California and the early history of this state is interesting. I'd recommend reading William Henry Dana, Jr.'s book "Two Years the Mast" for a literary picture of going "round the horn."

I'm such a dolt! I made a comment about your nice playing on this and that it was a new tune to me and that I liked it, and then never hit the "Post Comment" button. Not the first time I've done that either. Anyway, I enjoyed it.

Very nice & I just ordered that book. I read the Classics Illustrated (anyone remember those?) comic book version when I was a kid.

Thanks for leaving your kind words here. Jay Ungar has written two great tunes that I now know of. I found a CD of his to order and see what other gems he has.
