Where'd you learn this? Nice tune! The second part is like Cindy, but the other parts are different and catch my ear.

I think I mostly got it from this person's website: mne.psu.edu/lamancusa/tunes.html (lots of great tunes there!). It's also in Milliner-Koken, but I did not hear that until recently. I always thought it was a "newtime" tune written more recently, but I could be wrong. I like that it doesn't sound like your typical tune - I think those are the ones I'm drawn towards more...

Now that was a good lead. I found it in the Milliner-Koken book. It was recorded in the 70's by Ramona Jones of Indiana, Grandpa Jones wife! You might be interested to read the TOTW (Tune of the Week) discussion thread in the forum called Playing Advice: Clawhammer and Old-Time. I just did one on Rebels Raid last week. There's a list of over 280 tunes discussed since 2008. I look forward to each one and often learn the tune that week. It's fun!

Cool! Thanks for the tip - looks like there's lots of goodies in there - would love to participate...
