I thought I would record the same type of sound sample as the other 7 banjos I played as I tried to determine what type of banjo to purchase. I ended up buying a used Yates - Ron Stewart Maple banjo that was made in June of 2011. So far, I'm loving it!

Thanks. It does sound old doesn't it. The recordings of these 8 banjos were not professional. I just put my iphone on my knee and went for it. I do think it's pretty cool to have these recording for nostalgic purposes and future reference.

It really does. I am starting to hear what people say about the pre-war banjos. I can hear that kind of tone coming from the Yates.
