The banjo is a 30 hooks bakelite shell Harmony. The relationships between the strings is that of the G modal tuning with the 5th tuned to F. That particular banjo was loosing too much tone quality when set with a capo at 2nd fret. On other banjos I play the tune one full tone higher, using a capo. The "violin" background sound is produced by a minimal midi file played with Windows Media Player. The speed was intentionally set to 145 beats per minute. The clip is a kind of "collection item," because it implements a clawhammer melodic style I no longer, or hardly ever use. Isn't the tuning Cumberland Gap tuning--fDGCD? This is a pleasant Celtic tune I'd never heard before and I marvel at the quickness of your finger and thumb.
