Last year I received a message from David recommending that I learn the tune. Luckily I found it on the Buddy Thomas's Kitty Puss CD. I transcribed Buddy's rendition and learned it. Then, when David came over, I adopted the few notes he plays that are different than Buddy's. That's the history of how I came to learn it. As for the history of the tune itself I know nothing. Buddy Thomas's rendition is in Slippery Hill, implying that it is in the Milliner-Koken collection. The collection book contains a lot of text, which probably tells whatever they found on each of the tunes represented in the book. Further note, in the Videos section of my BHO account there is a video of our (David, I) playing. The name starts with The, "The Blue Goose." There is a tab in the Tabs section, but it is for the gDADE not the open-G tuning, and I sure don't recommend the use of tablatures.

Of course I'll listen. At certain time I run into a clip of Rhys Jones' fiddling Blue Goose. In that clip he had a beautiful low part. I can't guaranty that the notes are similar, but you can hear the first 30 seconds for free, of a rendition of Blue Goose, by Rhys Jones, Jeff Miller, and Jim Nelson at,
