like it John...man you've got that one tuned low, sounds pretty. We have begun practice for a few Christmas concerts and sing a medely of the two different versions of this great hymn. You might enjoy playing that medely on the banjo as well, starting with the more familiar version-then going to this one then back....could there be a Christmas CD in your future??

That banjo is tuned to GDAE like an octave mandoolin or Irish tenor. The strings are too light for the tuning...so the tension is too loose and floppy. I think I want to tune it low like this. But I've got some work to do on the banjo before I can set it with proper strings.
I Like that arrangement of Away in a Manger. I also really like playing Christmans hymns on tenor banjos. A few years ago, Jack, Liz and I played several hymns for a Christmas Eve service at my church. I used a tenor banjo on some. It was a very special occasion for me.
