Genre: Old Time / Playing Style: Clawhammer and Old-Time
A tune from the Ken Perlman Clawhammer Style Banjo book, that I learned whilst on my hols this year. It's in Sawmill/G Modal and it's one of 2 tunes I can play in Sawmill, the other just depresses me, so I don't play it often! Played on my GP Matthews Banjo, with Nylgut strings.

Love that tune and you did a great job on it sounded great. How long have you been playing clawhammer?

Thanks Rick, I really quite enjoy playing it. I started off (like a lot of people) scruggs in Jan 2009, only to abandon all hope or desire to play scruggs, after around 8 months of sweat and tears. I bought Ken Perlmans Clawhammer Style Banjo as I quite liked the Old-timey sound too, and wanted the whole thing explained to me in idiots terms.
Voila! Never looked back, and just love Old-time/clawhammer playing - it just suits my personality (and skills!) much better than scruggs.
Sadly, this means that I'll never be the next Earl, but Old-timey folks just have the best names - Matokie Slaughter, Uncle Dave Macon, Gaither Carlton, Willard Watson etc... lol! I guess I just need to work on mine...
