Hey John,
Super version of that song but we need more, more! What do you have on that banjo, a 12 foot rim with an elephant hide head? I have heard bass fiddles sound more brassy than that banjo. Good tone. You know that the sound waves from those low bass deep tone banjos travel a long distance. I hope it wasn't you and that banjo that dislodged the plate that caused the earthquake in Japan. Bob...you are too much. Thanks.
Did you know that this banjo design was the subject of a patent infringement lawsuit between H. C. Dobson & Cubley? The case went all the way to the U.S. Supreme court. Cubley won.

I did not keep that banjo long. I bought it on ebaY and re-sold it fairly quickly. It was a cool instrument and all original. The old rosewood tuners were very unique. When I got the Cubley, I also had an H.C. Dobson which I considered to be superior.
The sound sample was recorded using an audio technica stereo mic positioned very close to the head . That type of mic placement sometimes creates a "proximity effect" which enhances the bass tones. It was also tuned low. That was a cool sounding banjo for sure. But it did not sound quite that "huge" in person.

Now that's a deep, rich sound. Fine, fine picking.
