Muskakatuck Waltz - Nicholsons Players Champion 15942-A Recorded on Champion around 1930, looks like they also released this waltz on the Gennett label. I like the gentle pizzicato on the fiddle.

So are they playing this in F or E or is this recorded in 435 the old international pitch. What you think?

Not sure..... I've been trying to figure out a fiddle tuning that includes the open strings, and what I've come up with so far seems pretty weird. It may have been recorded at something other than 78 RPM, so the playback isn't at the same pitch that it was played in to record it.

E-Flat I think. OK no five string banjo on this one...maybe I'll take up the tenor banjo for this one (feel sorry for my family, they will suffer if I try to learn this on the tenor).

Key of F. Billy Mathews has now absorbed this tune given it back to me. He has me play this out classical C (GCGBD). Boy is this a great tune, I am having a lot of fun with this one, two finger style. Thanks Mark!

So post an mp3 when you have it down pat ! ! I'm having a blast turning my 78s into mp3s. If you're interested, I'm posting them on a file-sharing site, mediafire.com/?gx6ffoiaiwgtw

Cool beans! Thanks for sharing Mark! I'll try to get a recording tonight cause Billy Mathews is here and leaves tomorrow. I'll apologize now for any two finger clubblings on the banjo, but you'll love that fiddle and guitar work!

OK Mark here you go. I finally got a recording of Billy and us playing this tune. Warts and all. We performed for Doyle Moore's 80th Birthday party Last night at Japan House. If this link doesn't work it is posted in my music. Thanks for bringing this tune into my tune bag. banjohangout.org%2Fmyha...ID%3D19807" target="_blank">hangoutstorage.com/jukebox.asp...D%3D19807
