Hi, Greg, no steel. The Black fork model has a very sweet round tone due to the12 inch head and short scale neck. this one was built for me by Bill Van Horn In ohio. He is a BHO member...................................Steve

Hi, Steve.... the guage of the steel strings is Medium....the plunk comes from the bridge sitting in the middle of the 12 inch head

Pretty. You took the oddness out of the one I've been listening to (with 5 measures repeated). You have 8 measures in each part, which evens it out and makes it more traditional. Thanks!
