China Poplin was actually from Sumter, SC. His family some generations back however came down from NC (I believe somewhere southeast of Charlotte).
That's great tune, I just picked this one up myself...a real ball to play!

Thank you for the correction. Just yesterday someone gave me the telephone number of a gentleman in Sumter who knew China and studied banjo with him. I'm way excited!
