This is another recording of the Wry Whiskey amalgamation with Richie Chaisson on resophonic guitar and the late Gene Ketelhohn on guitar, recorded in early 1999. I am playing my semi-fretless Paramount in open D tuning.

Best version I've heard where 5 string banjo takes the lead.

Don, your playing is always beautiful but this one takes the cake. Clear and clean as crystal.

That's a really nice version of one of my favorite songs. As much as I like it, I have yet learned to play it. You make a difficult song sound so easy and smooth. Thanks

Very nice indeed but I'm a fool for a waltz.

Ashoken Farewell is one of my favorite tunes, especially when played on the banjo, and your arrangement is just beautiful. Would you be willing to send me a tab of your version or point me to a good tab of it from another source? Thanks for your post.

And I thought I was the only banjo picker who played this tune LOL. Very nicely done. It's cool too because I had been corresponding with Richie about something else entirely, and then stumbled into this. Cool cool cool.

Just happened on this one today. Absolutely pristinely beautiful banjo playing. Hat's off to you, Don!
