My first attempts at Minstrel style and I've already deviated from Flesher's instructions...I'm hopeless

Excellent! I like the different structure, gives the tune a bit of a different flavor.

Great job, Brian!
So why didn't those other weinies that left comments leave you some stars for your effort?

Tsk tsk Craig - don't be calling my buddies "weinies" it's not nice.... ;0)
and remember the rule: ""I" before "E" except after "C" or when sounded like "AY" as in "NEIGHBOR" and "WEIGH"
:^p

Very nice, Brian. It sure sounds right to me. I think "weenie" is the proper spelling, by the way.

The great "Wienie/Weinie/Weenie" debate rages on. ;^)
For the record: I base my spelling on what I believe to be the origin of the word "wienie".
It seems clear to me that "wienie" comes from "Wiener" (also known as "hot dog") which is itself the shortened form of "Wiener wurst" meaning sausage from Vienna (Wien)
But I don't want to be a wienie/weinie/weenie about it - spell it as you like
