Everybody's got to start someplace. By "professional", do you mean that's their full-time job, or do you mean they have sometimes gotten paid? It takes a lot of rehearsal (when I was in various bands) to get the timing right.
My own timing is so irregular, that most of my career has been as a soloist.
Nothing to be terribly ashamed of, especially if it was done with people you do not regularly practice with.
