What are you, some kind of clown (bet you never heard that before)? Oh, you are, for real.
Do you use the banjo in your acts? I've seen your video playing the H.C. Dobson. Very nice. I have an 1884 George C. Dobson banjo, nowhere near as nice as his brother's H.C. Have you heard any of Adam Hurt's works? He plays a fretted H.C. Dobson extremely well. I got to try it once. I want one. Keep on playing!

Yup, some kinda Clown!
Nah, i don't really play banjo in my act/show apart from a couple of times in my monthly cabaret show, "Lunacy Cabaret" that i produce here in Toronto. Here's a link to a performance on my video page. But be warned it is an x-rated Sea Shanty acted out by clowns (not you birthday party variety) so if you are easily offended please don't watch "On the Good Ship Venus"

Ya i lucked out finding the Dobson. i saw it buried under a bunch of stuff on a junk shop wall, recognized the tailpiece poking out and got the guy to pull it down. i paid $125 for it, but spent close to $1000 to bring it back to life. The new flush-fret fingerboard the Luke Mercier made is so silky smooth and it's a joy to play.
if you are thinking of getting a Dobson repro you HAVE to check Luke out. Of all the guys making banjos with Dobson type tone-rings his look the nicest to me!

Ya i really like Adam Hurt, i've watched all of his videos on youtube and i want to buy his new CD but they are on backorder right now. Great stuff! He's featured in this month's Banjo Newsletter.

Actually you might not want to watch that video, I made the mistake of posting It to my profile and it really upset some people to the point of personal attacks... Granted it is a very dirty sea shanty. If you did watch it you may not want to be my friend anymore... The last thing I wanted was to upset anyone. Anyway, cheers!

What are people saying... "hey you clown!"?
Almost all sea shanties had very "salty" lyrics. The words are usually cleaned up these days when recorded or performed in public. I have one collection is sea shanties without the usual editing that's quite entertaining. I haven't seen your spicy video yet.

They were a lot more nasty than "hey you clown... " i found some of their comments to be much worse than the content of the video ironically enough... just in case you are interested in seeing the performance here is the link to my youtube channel, search for "Good Ship Venus" youtube.com/user/LunacyCabaret but again don't go there if you are offended easily, it is quite a rude song but my friends and i had a great time performing it and the audience loved it too!
