Fiddler Glen Smith of Wirt County West Virginia was born in Woodlawn, Virginia, in 1923. He moved to the Elizabeth area about 30 years ago to work in the timber industry. Since that time, Glen has become a fixture at West Virginia traditional music events, winning numerous awards for his fiddling and entertaining audiences throughout the state with his dry sense of humor and his hard-driving musical style. Glen Smith passed away in 2001. Photograph by Michael Keller.
