I owned a 1965 Vega Whyte Laydie, made right here in the U.S.A. before Martin took them over. When I compair the two, it looks like the workmanship is every bit as good as the "65" but it seems that the fret material isn't quite as good and the neck feels a little heavyer. I liked the effect of the Fyberskin head. It's got it's own unique sound.

Same on the neck here which I like. never tried a Fyberskin might swap out the clear head for one and give it a try.

I'm happy with mine it is well made & not a piece of crap like some I've picked on.

Yeah fret's wear down real quick with a lot of play.
