Is it a Seagull Colin? We was in Wales a couple of Years ago and my Mate sat in his Room Cooing (like Bob & vic)when do Dove from above scetch. He had a Biscuit in his hand,and the Bed he was sat on was about 3ft from the Window. A massive Gull landed on the Window ledge,hopped in the Room and took the Biscuit out of his Hand ( as soon as it was on the Ledge i was making for the Door) He was Laughing his Head of rolling about on the Bed . He had been feeding this thing for 3 Days. What a Loon (sorry about the errors in this post i have just got back from a pick and and i am a tad Drunk)

Hope you're over the hangover now. It was a black headed gull at Bowness on Windermere.
I was once sitting in my car eating a McDonalds, when a starling flew in the window, sat on my steering wheel, nicked a chip and flew off. I sat there totally dumbfounded.

Late getting to this one... please explain the phrase "pull the birds". I'm guessing, being on this side of the pond that it refers to women... chicks, etc. Regarding the starling, a couple o' thoughts: one, he was possibly shocked at your choice of such pedestrian fare for your repast and was attempting to remind you it was more fit fer birds... and two, did you remember to warn him of the fat content, preservatives and non-organic nature of the "beef" at Mickey D's? Sir Colin, you may want to watch the flick "Super Size Me" for a very interesting experiment regarding the plasticity of the stuff served beneath the euphemistically named "Golden Arches"!

Anyway, I may post a picture of a really cool Jay that was up in the Rocky Mountains at a pond frequented by hikers. My wife was startled when it boldly announced itself in a nearby tree. I suspected what the little bugger was up to... got a pinch of my bread and within a flash, this "wild" beautiful creature had landed within a couple of feet with his head cocked, eyeing his prize ... which he plucked as soon as I placed it on the rocky outcrop and took to his perch to consume, at his leisure. I knew Ravens, Crows and Parrots were quite intelligent... but this guy played us like a vintage Gibson!

The phrase "pulling the birds" means exactly as you guessed. Aquiring a lady friend. The photo was taken in what is known as The Lake District. It's a very picturesque part of the UK. On this particular lake there are hundreds of birds who see the general public as a source of food. There are bins along the shoreline with all manner of bird food in them that you can buy and feed away. I love it. I don't frequent McD's anymore as I have to get my cholestoral level down pretty quick.

I would really like to see the picture of the jay.
