A normal shoulder would have space between the humeral head and the gelnoid (shoulderbone socket)

Ouch! Is this an image of your shoulder?

Yes, a CT scan. It's worst when I can actually feel bone grinding on bone. But in just under two months I'll have a metal shoulder, and if it's anything like my ceramic hip I'll be a lot better off!

Wow! What caused such significant wear at only 49 years old? Great, now my shoulder hurts from just looking at the picture again, thanks!!!!

Thanks for the sympathy. Fortunately we have some good medications these days, elsewise I'd really be up a tree! I have an autoimmune form of arthritis that is slowly destroying my joints. The process of destruction is being slowed by a new class of medications called "biologics." If I'd been born 20 years earlier my poor joints would be a lot worse off.
