Hey, I was thinking about doing a similar thing, buying a heap tele and cutting down the neck a little bit, can you give me any advice on the best way to slim the neck down from 6 to 5 strings?

well the main acvice is dont thin the neck to far as you wont be able to fit side tuner as it will hit the truss rod ( oops i was to late ) also you can route the side off but it is very brittle i did it including the frets BUT IM INSANE. You can get a guitar use 5 strings put a peg in the neck as per banjo and just play. it doesnt sound like a banjo but is good fun but you can take peg out and use as normal guitar, see my other 5 / 6 guitar banjos
