While living in Murfreesboro John Balch and I spent hours together playing music. He was already a competent guitar and banjo player. This photo was taken by the local paper prior to our playing at a small event at Old Fort Park. We did this for two summers as part of the park's summer events. John is playing his Gallagher guitar. The banjo is a little wonder Vega circa 1922 with a Randy Wood neck purchased at George Gruhn's shop in Nashville. I played this banjo for years before selling it to a friend in Burnt Hills, New York before learning I could own more than one banjo at a time.
