Are these any better than Bill Miller's?

The Stern Tanning heads are machine sanded and buffed. They are more even thickness than any others I've found. The quality truly is like the heads produced in Chicago years ago. The equipment came from one of those old factories. But...they are quite a bit more expensive.

The best calfskin head has to be from an unborn Calf. Back in the late 20's and early thirties there was lot's to be had , but not today. I had one for a Ludwig , which I sold to Vinnie with the orginal Ludwig Calfskin head that I'm referring to. This skin dated back to 1920 time periode, as it was on the Banjo from day one . I took it of myself as I did not like the sound that I get from my fingers moving the skin surface.
