this is my tab to clinch mountain backstep as played by ralph stanley on that old black and white youtube video. notes: that first 3-5 slide with a pinch just hold into the first measure.and do the same at the first ending when repeating part a. in the second measure,the 0-3 hammer-on is done WITHOUT plucking the third string,so you gotta hammer down hard to get the desired effect.its repeated throughout the song so pay attention to it. the first measure of line four is the "backstep",which is just one measire of 2/4 time,then it goes back into 4/4 timein the next measure. the second ending of part b leads you the very end of the tune,and that first measure of it actually has an extra 1/8 note in it ,simply because thats what ralph did ,so if you just play it like its written youll be okay.this tab follows the video thats on youtube pretty accurate ( i hope!),so use the vid along with the tab. have fun!
