Home made 5th string capo works good!

Posted 1/8/2010 3:16:39 PM

I know it looks like it would pop out of position but it doesn't. It works really well!

Is that a .22 shell?? I got a lot of those lying around. Since I can't hit the rabbits to save my life, there are shells all over the place. ;o)

No, this one is not from a .22 shell . . . This is just a little piece I cut from a length of steel tubing I found. However, a shell casing would work fine I think. Give it a try!

Nice looking capo, probably with good sustain on the string, too.

I made a couple from guitar bridge pins - cut to length and cut a little string slot. The pin's groove fits over the fret. Not an original idea, but it seems to work.

Actually, I've used a 3/8" unused pop rivet for some time and its never moved. I started by cutting off the top that normally goes into the riveting tool. The rim of the rivet keeps it from going under the string to far. Trim the other end of the rivet so it doesnt interfere with the D string, smooth both cut ends on a file and your ready to roll (All puns intended)

That sounds like dang fine idea! Can you take photo and post the link for us?
Best Wishes,
Tom
