This was shot through a window in the spray booth at Gibson, Montana at the end of a long hard day.

Mike:
Do you have an organic face mask on? I hope so.

Nope, no mask. That booth had incredible amounts of air being pulled in at my back and pulled out on the spray side. It is the only booth I've ever used that I didn't use a mask with- it was like working in a hurricane every day. The previous booth I used at Gibson when I worked there in 89-90 was much different. In that one, I used a full fresh-air hood. I wore a corduroy ball cap inside the hood- the corduroy bill made the hood move with my head whenever I turned my head.
The hood had an inflatable collar that fit around my neck closely and stopped all fumes. With out the fresh air hose connected, I had about 3 minutes in it before I started running out of air! But it was more comfortable than a mask over the course of day to day. I had a good mask I used for quick trips into the booth, and there were only 2 of us who used the hoods. The clear coat guy still uses a hood- that booth is old and has much less air movement in it.
