Wish I could again also. This was the last time in this life. He passed away 11-28-2009. 75 years of living and preaching 55 of those years. Next time I worship with him will be a much better place.

My dad has been a Pentecostal preacher all my life. He's pushing 77, and still in the pulpit as often as possible, but I know the day is getting closer all the time when, like you, I'll lose him and his deeply spiritual zest for life. He never learned to play an instrument, but he made sure I grew up playing and singing in church before quitting college as a woodwinds major and going off into a music career (he still isn't sure how he should feel about that part, though).
Learning to play music in church is the absolute BEST training ground there is, and you're giving your children a rare and invaluable opportunity by encouraging them to learn there. The wife and I never went to church much, outside of attending my dad's services whenever we were close, so our sons didn't get those years of solid training. All four play, and two of them are certifiable prodigies, but I sometimes regret that they didn't get that early musical grounding they would have gotten in a church setting. Oh well.
Keep on picking!
